Serbian Tennis Federation and president of Serbia, Mister Boris Tadic congratulated JJ | 18.11.2008.

On Friday the 14th 2008, the best tennis player in the world JJ was president Tadic's guest, which was followed by an exclusive reception in Belgrade's Hyatt hotel, organized by Serbian Tennis Federation. For her great achievements in 2008 and number 1 place on the WTA list Jelena received a trophy and a reward.
On this occasion many friends as well as media representatives congratulated Jelena on her great results and performances in this year and wished her to continue in same direction and achieve even greater successes in the future. Jelena received many presents from friends and sponsors, flowers from her colleague Novak Djokovic and his family, a gift from one of the best fashion designer in the world, Roberto Cavalli and many others beautiful presents.
Tennis Association of Serbia gave Jelena appreciation and her reaction was very emotional. With tears in her eyes she talked about memories from her life and carrier so far and about the difficult road which led her directly to the stars, to the top of the world!
"I am very proud of my self for all I have accomplished in 2008. I worked very hard and fulfilled the dream I hade since I held tennis racket in my hands for the first time. I can't find right words in this moment. I remember the time when I was ten years old and trained in a cold balloon on Red Star courts at 6 A.M. Thank you all for the support, my dream came true", said Jelena just before tears run from her eyes.

On 12th of November 2008, at 20.30 and 22.30, the feature documentary movie "Jelena's world" about tennis player Jelena Janković will have its world premiere in the cinema Roda Cineplex in Belgrade. This documentary movie, with high artistic potentials, will show the world of professional tennis, the life of one young fighter and champion. “Jelena’s world”, from the author and director Tanja Brzaković, was made in the production of TALAS FILM, Belgrade and FILMKRAFTWERK, Berlin. The audience all over Serbia will have a possibility to see the movie in cinemas from the 13th of November, as on 12th of November in the cinema Roda Cineplex in presence of Jelena Janković. Jankovic officially clinches year-end No. 1 ranking | 27.10.2008.

Following an intense and unprecedented year-long battle for the No.1 ranking that witnessed five different players holding the top position, Jelena Jankovic will conclude the 2008 season at No.1. Jankovic, who will lead the singles competition at the Sony Ericsson Championships – Doha 2008, will emerge as the year-end No.1 regardless of the results.
The 23-year old secured the year-end No.1 ranking shortly after winning 12 straight matches and three straight titles, at Beijing, Stuttgart and Moscow. She won the first of her four 2008 titles at Rome in May.
"It has been a truly amazing year for me," Jankovic said. "Winning four Sony Ericsson WTA Tour titles, over 60 matches and to make it to two semifinals and a final in the Grand Slams this year is a dream come true. I worked really hard this year and to finish No.1 is where I want to be and where I hope to stay."
Jankovic first claimed the No.1 ranking on August 11, 2008, staying there for one week. She returned to top spot on October 6 and has held it ever since. She has also won more matches than any other player on Tour this year - 63 - and has reached the quarterfinals or better at 19 of her first 21 events, her only early round losses coming at Wimbledon (fourth round) and Zurich (second round).

In front of a special „Phantom“ camera, Jelena is a real star. The director of this TV commercial, Aco Bosković, is fascinated with her positive energy and professional approach.

NEW YORK - AUGUST 24: Jelena Jankovic attended the WTA 35th Anniversary Benefit party at the Sports Museum of America August 24, 2008 in New York City.
Here you can see two pictures from the party. On the first picture Jelena is with former top tennis player Mery Joe Fernandez (highest rank – 4th in the world) and Tracy Austin - a former World No. 1 women's professional tennis player from the United States who won the women's singles title at the US Open in 1979 and 1981 and the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 1980, before a series of injuries cut short her career.
On the second picture Jelena is smiling with Virginia Wade, former professional tennis player from the United Kingdom. She won three Grand Slam singles titles (Australian Open 1972, Wimbledon 1977. and US Open 1968) and four Grand Slam doubles titles. She is particularly remembered for winning the women's singles title at Wimbledon in the tournament's centenary year on July 1, 1977, the last time a Briton has won a singles title there.

Jelena in humanitarian action - Champions for Children | 12.08.2008.

On the first day of the Olympics Jelena was invited by the UNICEF China office to help with a gala event called Champions for Children. She was asked to help advocate for equality for girls at this very high profile event that focused on the most vulnerable children.In China there is still much discrimination against young girls because of strong traditional attitudes favoring male children.
Jelena was delighted to make time to support UNICEF again in her role as
National Ambassador for Serbia. The evening turned out a smashing success

Belgrade, May 20th, 2008 – Knjaz Milos Company and the third player of the world, Jelena Jankovic, signed today in Belgrade a two year contract where the company will be her sponsor. In the next two years Jelena will promote products made by Knjaz Milos, particularly their well-known water Aqua Viva.

Jelena’s profile on the stamps in Serbia | 18.04.2008.

Serbian tennis superstar Jelena Jankovic, the girl who will represent for the second time her country in the Olympic Games (previously in Athens 2004), got an honor to have her own post-office stamp with her profile on it. This edition of stamps was released a week ago in the honor of Serbian National Tennis Team that will include five players at the Olympic Games in Beijing this year. In this way, the Serbian Post gave a big acknoledgment for all successes top tennis players accomplished for their country.
Jelena Jankovic got stamps with the value of 30 and 40 Serbian dinars. The graphics were done by well-known domestic artist Ms. Marina Kalezic, and it was printed by the company Forum from Novi Sad, Serbia.
„I feel very privileged to represent my country in this way. This is the sign from my fellow Serbs that they are proud of my accomplishments and it makes me more motivated to represent Serbia and my people. Jankovic leads ACES Race | 10.04.2008.

MIAMI, FL, USA - At the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, the action off the court was just as exciting as the action on the court during the 12-day, Tier I event. At all Sony Ericsson WTA Tour events, players participate in many community programs and promotional activities to help raise awareness of the tournament and the game. In January 2007, the Tour began a new initiative called the ACES Race, rewarding those players who go above and beyond to promote tennis on and off the court. Points are awarded to each off-court promotional activity players take part in - the bigger the commitment, the more points awarded to each player.
Singles runner-up Jelena Jankovic took over the lead in the 2008 ACES Race, which tallies the off-court activities of the Tour players during the year. In reaching the singles final, Jankovic also spent time in photo shoots, fan and sponsor activities as well as dress fittings for the first-ever dress made of Sony Ericsson phones, which she wore on the red carpet at the Kick-Off Player Party.

“Dear fans, until I write you my next blog, I want to thank all of you for the biggest support you are giving me on the website. It is always good to hear when you compliment me and it gives me additional strength and self-esteem before my matches. I see many of you are worried about my shoulder and what happened last night. After two weeks of playing time in Palm Springs and finished Indian Wells tournament, Jelena Jankovic advanced one spot according to today’s rankings and she holds the third position again. Her good playing and the semifinal of the tournament are the only reason for her improvement in the ranking.
This week Jankovic will take part in the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami which has the prize money of $3,770,000.

Famous srpska tennis player Jelena Jankovic in the cooperation with the National Office of the Serbian President donated the money to 22 families from the Central Serbia and Kosovo, as well as to hospital “Stefan Visoki” from Smederevska Palanka. In this way, Jelena donated the total amount of 33,000 euros which she received from the “Family Sport” which organized an exhibition match in December where Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic, Janko Tipsarevic and Novak Djokovic participated. All the money earned from this event went to families with specials needs and institutions to buy medical equipment.

“I am very happy that I was able to help those who are in an urgent need for money, and I will always try to find time and continue with humanitarian actions such as this one”, said Jelena.

Jelena Jankovic arrived to Bangalore, India where she will participate in a Tier II tournament that has prize money of $600,000. Jelena is the top seed, and she has a bye in the first round. Jelena Jankovic visited her tennis club Gemax | 15.02.2008.

Jelena Jankovic found some free time to visit today Sony Ericsson Open, a Challenger Tournament organized by her tennis club Gemax in Belgrade. As several of her friends are in the main draw of the tournament, she wanted to demonstrate support to the Serbian players and wish them good luck. Djordje Antelj, the President of Gemax took a chance to thank Jelena for everything she has done in the past and wish her early happy birthday greeting her with a very nice diamond watch and flowers.

Several hours after the visit to Gemax, JJ headed to the airport where she left to Doha, Qatar. Jelena visited her hometown to receive several treatments for her lower back injury. She feels much better now hoping to stay healthy which would allow her to play at her best.

Jelena Jankovic filmed her episode with Brittany Snow, a very popular actress who just recently starred in the movie Hair Spray. According to the Independent Channel who premiered all five episodes, this movie had the highest rating. JJ signed the contract with Serbian Tennis Association, Serbia will face Croatia in April | 05.02.2008.

elena Jankovic signed a contract with the Serbian Tennis Association in which she promises to play for the national team of Serbia. After a great success in Budapest, Hungary where the national team managed to reserve a spot in the playoffs for the World Group, Jelena and other team members gathered in a well-known restaurant celebrating their victory on Monday night. At the beginning of the night, JJ signed the contract with Mr. Slobodan Zivojinovic, the President of the Serbian Tennis Association.

The following morning in London, there was a draw in which Serbia took part. The national team will face Croatia in the attempt to qualify into the World Group. Croatia will host this event on April 26th in which two singles matches will be played on that day, followed the next day with three more matches (two singles and one doubles).

Serbia against Holland in the semi-final | 01.02.2008.

National team of Serbia will face Holland in the next round of the Fed Cup tournament in Budapest, Hungary. Both teams managed to be first in the preliminary round. Serbia beat Poland and Romania. The match between these two teams is scheduled to play on Saturday, 02.02. starting at 10am.

Fed Cup Tournament starts for Serbia tomorrow | 30.01.2008.

Serbian National Team starts their first group match tomorrow at 10am. Our country is in the group D with Poland and Romania. Four best Serbian players (Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic, Ana Jovanovic, Teodora Mircic) arrived to Budapest, Hungary to try and catch a spot in playoffs in order to bring Serbia into the World Group to compete against the best nations.

Serbia will face Poland tomorrow. Jelena Jankovic (the captain) and Ana Ivanovic will play singles matches. Ana will be first on the court at 10am, and Jelena will play following that match. Doubles match will decide a winner in case of a tie.

Jelena plays at the prime time | 19.01.2008.

JJ will play her 4th round match against Casey Dellacqua on Sunday, Jan 20th at 7:30pm (local time), Rod Laver Stadium. Two players faced each other only once, last year at Bali in which Jelena won 6:4, 6:4. Casey Dellacqua is currently ranked 78th.

Jankovic against Gallovits | 15.01.2008.

In the second round of the Australian Open, Serbian start Jelena Jankovic will face Romanian Edina Gallovits, 76th player of the world. The match will be held on Jan 16, the location is "Margaret Court Arena", and it will start approximately between 14:30 – 16h (local time) as their match is scheduled to be third on the previously mentioned court.

The beginning of the first Grand Slam | 13.01.2008.

Jelena Jankovic will be among first players who will come on courts in Melbourne to play their first round matches. JJ will play on Vodafore Arena at 11am local time versus Tamira Paszek. The prize money of the tournament is $18,400, 000. Jelena and Tamira have faced each other only once in their careers. It was last year in Rome where Jelena won the title. The score was 6:3, 6:4.
