Hello from Belgrade everybody :)
Hello from Belgrade everybody :) It's still a work in progress, but I feel I played some good matches in Australia. There were times I played at a high level, but then there were some ups and downs as well, and if I want to be at the top again I need to play at a high level throughout the whole match. But I felt my tennis was improving, and obviously I need a little time for the things I've been working on in training to transfer to matches. I believe it will happen though, and hopefully things will start falling into place!
I was really focused on playing in Melbourne, but I did have a little bit of time to see the city. I was there with my mother and we went shopping, went to some nice restaurants... I really enjoy Melbourne every year.
When I finished the tournament I took a flight back to Belgrade, and as soon as I got out of the airport it was so cold! It was 1C and snowing outside, a 30 degree difference from Australia. From sunny Melbourne to cold Belgrade. My body was in shock. I'm in completely different outfits now too: there I was in shorts, skirts and sandals, and now I'm in a really big winter jacket, hat and boots. It's really funny. I still have a bit of a cold I had throughout the tournament in Melbourne too, but now I'm trying to get better, so I have to stay as warm as possible.
Then there's the jet lag. Oh my God... yesterday I was feeling tired, so around 4pm I took a nap. I forgot to set my alarm and I slept for 12 hours! I woke up at 4am. I didn't even know where I was. It's dark outside and snowing, and everyone else was sleeping. I didn't know what to do. So I started unpacking and preparing my clothes for my upcoming trips! My little dog heard me and watched me go through all my clothes, looking at me like, 'What's wrong with her?' The poor dog was sleeping as well. But there's no way I could have gone back to sleep after I already slept for 12 hours!
Sometimes people don't really know what we go through. Changing climates, time zones, food and other things. It's hard on our bodies. I come home to see everyone for a couple of days, but then in two days I'm leaving again, first to Belgium for Fed Cup, then Paris, Doha, Dubai and the tournaments in the States. I was already away for a month and a half. But it's part of our job. It's the life of a professional athlete, so I cannot complain, even though sometimes I might ;)
I'm really looking forward to playing Fed Cup though. One thing I'm excited about is I designed the dresses the Serbian team will be wearing for the cocktail party. They're red and they'll have patriotic accents or details, something to do with the Serbian flag. I'm working with a company here in Serbia and we only had a few days to design them but I'm excited about it. It's cool because we'll look like a team, and the girls will look cute in them too. I hope they like them!
As always, thank you for all of your support, and I'll talk to you all again very soon. JJ
