I am writing you right now from one of my favorite cities in the world, Rome. I arrived yesterday in the afternoon and I am really happy about it. I was suppose to arrive over the past weekend, but since I got sick in Germany last week, I returned back home to Belgrade since I had no energy and wanted to do some medical examinations. My immune system is down and the reason for that is a lot of on and off court activities that I have had in the past, and for that matter I could not relax and recover well. I practiced a lot in order to get ready for the next couple of tournaments which are very important for me. I got few infusions with vitamins and I am still taking antibiotics so I am feeling better. I have not practiced until today and I have been trying to rest a lot so I can be ready to defend the title this week.
Concerning my performance in Berlin, I expected more out of that tournament. I lost against Dementieva who I was beating in the past matches, but I felt weak throughout the match, moved slowly on the court and even though I tried to focus and give my maximum, I could not do it. She is very good player with lots of experience so she knew how to take advantage of my weaknesses on that day, especially with my slow movements. These things happen, it is the second time I get sick this year, the new tournament starts for me tomorrow against either Pennetta or Savchuk.
Once I arrived to Rome I had a photo shoot for WTA. The organization is starting the global campaign very soon which will last for the next two years and several top players were invited to take part in the commercial that will be broadcasted worldwide. The photo shoot was done in the center of Rome so I was really excited. It lasted a bit long, but it was a great experience. WTA did so much for women’s tennis and this is something I would like to give back to the organization.
I apologize that this blog is not too long, but I am sick and I cannot spend much time in front of the computer screen. I need to rest because I want to play well, defend the title and since Rome is a special place for me, I want to keep it that way.
